The building I'm living in as 120 years old and full of character. I overlook a large courtyard which means it's blissfully quiet, it's such a refreshing change to be woken up by birdsong (something I thought couldn't happen in this city) rather than ambulance sirens or the engine noise of rundown old buses.
Here are some snaps of the apartment, at $650 USD per month (including all commission, bills etc) it isn't dirt cheap, but it is still very good value IMO. It's very modern inside, and the price includes broadband, cable TV, air conditioning and weekly maid service.
I'm a few blocks from the Plaza de Congresso (I snapped the below photo on my cell phone yesterday when out for a walk) and a variety of other very interesting architecture.
There are many, many estate agents offering temporary accomodation for tourists in Buenos Aires. This time I dealt with WayToBAWay.com. The owners, Ignacio and Martin, spoke excellent English and were both extremely professional. If you come to Buenos Aires and are looking for somewhere to rent on a short term basis I highly recommend them.

I happen to know Ignacio and Martin from Way to BA Way... and yes: you're right! they are great professionals, very customer-oriented... and great people as well.
Regards from Argentina.
